Listening Session for Nursery Crop Insurance Program Changes Planned - Oct 13 in McMinnville, TN

Your input is needed to evaluate the current Nursery Crop Insurance Program.  

Watts and Associates, Inc. (, under contract to the USDA Risk Management Agency, will hold a listening session regarding the FCIC Nursery Crops Insurance Program in October. The listening session is scheduled at 9 AM, October 13, 2011, at the Otis L. Floyd Nursery Research Center Conference Room,  472 Cadillac Lane McMinnville,  TN . If you plan to attend, please contact Dr. Randy Landgren ( so rooms with space appropriate for the sessions can be arranged.

The contract covers a review of existing insurance and a look at what might be done to improve the program under the constraints of the Federal Crop Insurance Act. Producers are especially encouraged to attend. Other industry stakeholders (insurance personnel, educators, suppliers, shippers, etc.) are welcome. Individuals who do not fit into either of these broad categories, but who wish to provide input or are interested in the research process are also welcome to attend. The focus of the listening sessions will be upon obtaining information not otherwise available, such as degree of interest, reasons for interest, willingness to pay, risks to production (natural and man-made), perceptions of potential conflicts and difficulties, etc. However, information will be welcomed regarding all topics of interest.
